What areas do you service? |
| |
We
currently service the Fairfax/Chantilly/Centreville
areas |
 |
Are you licensed and
insured? |
|
|
Yes
we are both licensed and insured for $1,000,000 general
liability for your piece of mind. |
 |
Do I have to be home when
you service my yard? |
| |
Simply put, no. We know how busy your schedule can be.
If it's not work, it's going somewhere to drop off the
kids, shopping or whatever. Since we only need access
the lawn and yard, it is not necessary for you to be
home. When we are finished maintaining your yard, we
will leave your invoice on your door, you simply mail in
your payment (or leave payment in an envelope). In the
event that you have a fenced and locked back yard with a
pet, we ask that you leave the gate open or leave a key
and keep the pet indoors or secured in a kennel. |
 |
I water my lawn about 15 -
20 minutes every day around sunset. Is that enough water
at the right time? |
| |
This
is a good time to clear up this misconception. It is
better to water your lawn only once or twice a week, but
water enough to soak the ground down about 6 inches.
This guarantees your lawn's roots are getting enough
water, encouraging good root growth. Always water in the
early mornings. 20-25 minutes per section is plenty.
Watering during the day is not efficient as the sun will
evaporate some water before it soaks in. Evening is a
poor time water because the water left standing on grass
blades overnight encourages the growth of diseases.
However, the best time to water is when you have time to
do it...water in the evening or day is better than no
water at all. |
 |
How do I pay my bill? |
| |
There
are several options to pay your bill...please select the
option most convenient for you:
* Mail a check after each application
Make monthly payments with our yearly contract.
|
 |
Do you take care of my yard
the same day each week? |
| |
We
keep a planned schedule for each yard, however the
schedule is sometimes altered due to rain and weather.
If the rain is too heavy to service your yard, it will
be serviced the next day after the rain stops. Also if
you are hosting an event/party at your home and would
like the service date bumped a couple days, please let
us know and we will be sure to accommodate your
schedule. Visit our "Schedule" page to view your yards
scheduled visits. |
 |
Do you have a referral
program? |
| |
Yes!
We appreciate referrals, and to show it we offer you a
$50 GIFT CARD to your favorite restaurant for every
referral you send us that signs an annual maintenance
agreement! There is no limit to the amount of customers
you can refer (and thus the amount of free $50 GIFT
CARDS you can receive) |

Why is it necessary to cut
my grass every week? |
| |
Grass, at its heart, is a plant. Like most plants, if
you clip off the growing tips, the plant will grow back
fuller and denser. Every blade of grass starts as an
individual plant (and if you have ever seen a
newly-seeded lawn, you have seen what this looks like).
It is only by regular cutting that the individual plants
become a thick lawn. Without regular mowing, your yard
will have thick tufts of grass separated by patches of
dirt or weeds. Grass is also sensitive - it does best
when only the top third of the blade is cut off. We cut
our average lawn to a height of 3". It takes most lawns
about a week to reach a height where cutting off one
third of the blade of grass leaves a 3" cut. If you cut
the grass less frequently, it can grow high enough that
cutting it down to three inches removes half of the
blade, which will shock the grass. Shocked grass can
simply stop growing, or even turn brown and dormant.
Since no one wants brown grass, a weekly cutting is
optimal. |
 |
Will you still come out if
my grass doesn't grow? |
| |
We
will come out every week on your regularly scheduled
mowing day. If you grass simply hasn't grown that week,
we don't feel right charging you, so we will skip your
lawn. There is no need to call us if you think your
grass hasn't grown - chances are we will be in your
neighborhood anyway, and can determine if your grass
should be cut. |
 |
Can I call you and ask you
to skip me one week? |
| |
We
would prefer our customers not decide on their own if
their grass needs to be cut. If it has grown and you ask
us to skip you, it will take us longer the following
week and could possibly shock your grass. We will not
mow grass that has not grown; however, we prefer being
allowed to use our judgment to make this decision. If
you ask that we skip you one week, there may be an
additional fee on your following mow if it takes us
longer to complete your service. |
 |
Can I pick the day you mow
my lawn? |
| |
You
can request a time of week (beginning of the week, near
the weekend, etc.) and we will try to accommodate you.
However, to maximize efficiency we try to mow all lawns
in the same area on the same day, especially lawns in
the same neighborhood. The most commonly requested days
are Thursdays and Fridays, so while we will certainly
take all requests into consideration, please understand
that we are routing many customers and may not be able
to meet everyone's scheduling requests. |
 |
Why is the price for my lawn
higher than my neighbor's lawn? |
| |
Many
factors go into pricing a lawn. This is because there is
more to your lawn than just its location. Lot size is
one of the most important factors. Corner lots are
generally bigger than their neighboring lots, and
therefore will have slightly higher prices. Your lawn
may have a different grass type than your neighbor's
(certain grasses are more delicate and require different
types of care than others). Lastly, the amount of
trimming and edging makes a difference. Two neighbors
could have the exact same lot size and grass type, but
if one lawn has ten trees and three flower beds and its
neighbor has nothing but grass, the two neighbors will
have differently priced lawns. That being said, while
the price of your lawn may not be exactly the same as
that of your neighbors, generally speaking most lawns in
a neighborhood will be priced similarly. |
 |
Can you only mow, without
trimming, edging, or blowing? |
| |
While
we COULD offer just mowing without any of the additional
cleanup, we pride ourselves on the appearance of our
lawns and therefore only offer one standard weekly
maintenance package. |
 |
I thought mowing was
supposed to make my lawn healthy, but I think my grass
is dying. Why? |
| |
Mowing is only one step to a healthy lawn. Like any
plant, grass needs water and oxygen in addition to
regular maintenance. Are you over- or under-watering
your lawn? Is your lawn getting adequate air flow? If
there is a thick layer of thatch on your lawn, your
grass is probably suffocating. A healthy way to deal
with this problem is to aerate your lawn. A more drastic
way to deal with thatch is to dethatch your lawn, but
that is harsher on the grass. If neither of these
appears to be the problem, feel free to give us a call
at 571.283.8851 and we will come out for a free
consultation. |
 |
Will you call me if you skip
me one week? |
| |
We do
not notify our customers if they are skipped one week.
Your monthly bill will only reflect the times we
actually mowed your lawn. If you think you may have been
skipped and have a question about it, feel free to give
us a call. |
 |
Can I add landscaping
services to my weekly maintenance package? |
| |
For a
custom yearly package give us a call and we will create
a package including whatever additional services you
wish and adjust your price accordingly. |
 |
When is the right time of
year to fertilize? |
| |
That
depends on the type of grass and fertilizer you want to
use. Typically, early spring, mid-summer, and fall are
the best times to fertilize, with a winterizing
fertilizer at the end of the season. However, the best
time and type of fertilizer to use varies from yard to
yard. |
 |
I didn't receive my monthly
bill. |
| |
We
mail out our bills once a month on the 8th of the month.
Payments are always due by the 25th of the month. If you
think your bill should have arrived and you haven't
received it, please call us so we can send you a
duplicate. |
 |
Can I put my payment in the
mailbox for you to pick up? |
| |
We
prefer for our customers to mail in their payments.
Payments handed to us while we're working can easily get
dropped or forgotten. Payments left under the doormat,
in the mailbox, or behind a rock are easily damaged or
blown away. We include a return envelope in all our
bills to make it easy for customers to mail in their
payments and avoid these sorts of difficulties. |
 |
I don't think my bill is
correct. Who do I call? |
| |
If
you have a question about your bill, please call us and
we will double-check the charges and get back to you
right away. |
 |
Can I be billed for
landscaping services? |
| |
Only
our weekly lawn maintenance customers who have signed a
yearly service agreement have the option of being billed
for landscaping services. If you are not a weekly
customer, billing is not an option and payment is due as
service is rendered. The exception to this is very large
landscaping jobs totaling over $3,000. For landscaping
totaling over $3,000 materials must be paid for up
front, but the rest of your payments may be spread out
over time. The specifics of the payment plan will vary
on a case-by-case basis. We will let you know your
payment options at the time you call to schedule your
service. |
 |
Can I spread my payments out
over 12 months? |
| |
We do
offer the option for our weekly lawn maintenance
customers to spread their payments over 12 months. We
consider this a custom plan, and the specifics will be
determined on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to
take advantage of this option, please call us and we
will be happy to discuss the details. |
